Theology of Rest

This online course teaches that rest is the most important commandment in the Bible, which even God and the Lord Jesus observed. In Gen 2:2-3 and in Exodus 30:31, we learn that God rested to be refreshed. Jesus did the same in Mark 6:30-32 when the crowds were surging to seek help; he urged the disciples to "go to the other side and rest awhile." Participants will learn how resting is the best therapy for many illnesses that thrive on people experiencing burnout.

Balancing Work & REST

Mafico Leadership Renewal Institute demonstrates how balancing work and rest reduces stress, alleviates burnout, and promotes self-care, healthy lifestyle, and spiritual renewal for more effective pastoral ministry.

Self-Care & Health Benefits

This course shows how maintaining good health is a team effort involving the patient and health workers (doctors and nurses). Participants will learn how to interact with medical practitioners in a way that bonds the doctors and the patients. The course demonstrates how to listen to the body reporting the onset of an adverse health condition. Self-care requires regular retreats to pay more attention to yourself.

Disciplined Lifestyle

“Cleanliness is next to godliness.” This saying means neat, tidy, and spacious environment. Clean also refers to having a pure heart or good thoughts. A cluttered space (office, car, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom) causes gloom, stress, and depression.

Spiritual Pilgrimages/Travel Retreats/Rest

A cliché says, “Travel is the best teacher.” It is also the best relaxer of body and mind allowing one’s spiritual development. The Institute organizes and leads local and overseas trips that are filled with fun, rest, good food, sight-seeing, exposure to different cultures and, above all, to a deepening of your spirituality. Some people have participated in many of these trips because they return with a new vision of their life and future.

Learning Biblical Hebrew, the Easy Way

Learning Hebrew (or any other foreign language) opens the mind to understanding the Bible by learning what the Hebrew words that are approximately translated into English mean. Besides, learning a new language stimulates the brain and improves memory. Dr. Mafico teaches Hebrew in an easy and progressive way starting with learning the greeting ritual in Hebrew.
